Speaking & Lecturing
Bringing human factors and patient safety to life for audiences who want to evolve great care whether a service user or provider.
I’m Naomi, a specialist in patient safety and human factors with a background spanning clinical practice, education, and consultancy. I speak and lecture on the science of how humans perform in complex, high-stakes environments — and what organisations and educators can do about it. My sessions are inclusive, grounded in real clinical experience, current evidence, and a genuine belief that this work is hugely important and can empower improvement.
What I Speak About
- Human factors in clinical, health and social care settings
- Non-technical skills — what they are, why they matter, and how to develop them
- Psychological safety as a foundation for safer care
- Amplifying patient voice across safety, from consultations to strategic safety
- Building safety culture and safety climate that goes beyond compliance
- Leadership, communication, and decision-making under pressure

Leadership in Safety
Safety doesn’t sustain itself — it needs leaders who understand it, champion it, and model it every day. I work with leaders at all levels who want to move beyond incident reporting and box-ticking, and build environments where people feel genuinely able to speak up, make good decisions, and learn from what goes wrong.
My sessions on leadership in safety explore the behaviours, mindsets, and systems that make the difference — drawing on human factors science, real-world examples, and the kind of honest conversation that rarely happens in formal training.
Experience
I regularly lecture at the University of Plymouth and University of Exeter; I have been fortunate to speak at conferences including the British Society of Interventional Radiology national event for two years running. I have also facilitated virtual learning sessions for education companies to meet their clients’ training needs. I work with clinical teams, students, professional bodies, and educators — anyone ready to take safety seriously.
